It Necessary Upgrade to the Nikon D7100?

February 21, 2013 it launched Nikon DX type DSLR camera (have APS-C size sensor). This camera is the most advanced DX camera today, replacing the Nikon D7000 camera that success in the market.

Nikon D7100 has a 24MP sensor that is equal to that of his generation digital SLR camera Nikon D3200 and D5200, but the D7100 is slightly different because it does not have a low pass filter.

With no filter, the picture increased ketajamanan. But the drawback is that if photographing texture is very smooth and tight as the fabric surface, moire effects may arise, as illustrated below:

(Moire effect seen in the texture of the clothes)

The main advantage of the Nikon D7100 is a bigger picture resolution and sharper. Another advantage is a professional 51-point autofocus, which was first introduced in the D300 camera.

The presence of D7100 also makes sports and action photography enthusiasts wonder whether Nikon will launch a replacement for the Nikon D300s series workhorse sports and wildlife photographers or not.

Although quite reliable, D7100 is not perfect, the amount of megapixels and advanced features EXPEED 3 processor forced to work hard enough.

D7100 can only shoot straight as 6 pictures / second. Unfortunately the temporary shelters (buffer) can only hold only 6 14-bit RAW images. Once full, we had to wait for the camera to write to the memory card.

Due to this limitation, most likely the photographer sports / action will continue to use the D300s can shoot faster at 8 fps (with grip) and the buffer can hold up to 30 RAW images.

The main competitors are also reportedly brewing Nikon Canon 7D MK2 which reportedly will have a speed of at least 8 fps with photos buffer space.

Here are some of the main comparison of mid-level Nikon DSLR cameras and sophisticated:

                                  Nikon D90        Nikon D300s     Nikon D7000   Nikon D7100
Resolution                  12 MP              16 MP               12MP              24MP
Speed                         4.5fps               8fps                  6fps                6/7fps
Buffer (RAW 14-bit)    4                      30                     10                   6
Point Autofocus          11                     51                     39                   51
ISO                            200-3200           100-6400           200-3200        100-6400

Price                           Rp6, 4 million   Rp13 million      Rp9 million     Rp10,5 million

Will the D7100 successful in the market? Looks like D7000 D7100 would succeed because the image quality and the more complete and sophisticated technology.

Physical camera is not too heavy and the price is around 10 million. But still can not beat the D7100 Nikon D300s or Canon 7D for action and sports photography.

Recommendation: Nikon D7100 is perfect for travel and landscape as a lightweight camera body and the images are large and sharp (when paired with a high-quality lens).

For an upgrade from the basic level cameras such as the Nikon D3100, D5100 and D90 will find a lot of improvement.
